In November of 1999 I had LASIK eye surgery performed at Southeastern Eye Center in Greensboro, NC. I now see 20/20 without any glasses or contacts. For those of you that knew me before knew I was pretty blind without them. My corrections were -12 in the left and -10.75 in the right. Thanks to Dr. Stonecipher and Dr. McMackin and all the crew at Southeastern!
On April 20th, 2002 I married Tiffany Neili Knight. We bought a house in Reidsville, NC.
In December of 2003 I started working Full Time for Duke Life Flight. It had always been my dream to be a flight nurse and I finally got the opportunity to pursue this dream. I transferred to CareLink Mobile Critical Care at Moses Cone for some second income.
I purchased my first motorcycle, a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom in September of 2004. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and had to purchase an enclosed trailer to tow it home from Myrtle Beach, SC. It took a couple of days for me to get brave enough to take it off the trailer but I finally did and it wasn't too hard to get the hang of riding. My wife said she would never get on it but she eventually changed her mind and discovered that she loved riding too!
Since my wife was riding regularly with me now she said that she would like a bigger bike so that she would be more comfortable (who could argue with that!) So I wound up purchasing a 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. The Sportster was sold via EBay.
I also bought a 2001 Suzuki SV650S that I used for commuting to work because it got about 55MPG. I kept it for almost a year but decided that I was getting a little too brave (i.e. riding FAST) so I sold it via EBay.
After I sold the Suzuki I began riding the Softail to work more. I found myself having to leave stuff behind because it only had the 2 saddle bags and I did not want to wear a backpack with it. One of the pilots I work with had a Electra Glide and I sat on it one day and was hooked!!
Enter the 3rd and current Harley - a 2006 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic. It is an AWESOME bike!!! I bought this one in March of 2006.
I also received my NC EMT certification in March of 2006!
In May of 2006 I finally admitted that I had a problem with alcohol. After much soul searching and discussion with my wife, I entered Fellowship Hall in Greensboro, NC for Detox and rehab on May 12th, 2006. My official sobriety date is May 13th because I was drunk when I was admitted to Fellowship Hall. I learned alot about alcoholism and myself while I was there and now know that I will NEVER drink again!
